Dr. Mehnaz Ashraf Haq (Founder)

Dr. Mehnaz Ashraf Haq was born and raised in Pakistan, where she graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi in 1989. She continued her medical journey in the United States, completing her internal medicine residency at Jersey Shore Medical Center in New Jersey. Today, she resides in New Jersey with her husband and three children, while remaining deeply committed to improving healthcare for the people of Kashmir.

Honoring a Legacy with Purpose

In 2017, Dr. Haq founded Ashraf & Munira Memorial Hospital (A&MMH) on her family’s land to honor her late father’s vision of serving their community with quality healthcare. Despite managing her practice in New Jersey, she continues to lead and support the hospital’s mission from afar, ensuring that operations remain rooted in compassion, accessibility, and sustainability.

Committed to Accessible, Quality Care

Her goal is to reduce the burden of disease in the region—where many illnesses are preventable or easily treatable—by providing timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and education for long-term health. Through these efforts, A&MMMH strives to build healthier, stronger communities that thrive well into the future.

Since opening, A&MMH has become a vital lifeline for underserved populations, offering charity-based care to thousands of patients each year. Under Dr. Haq’s leadership, the hospital has introduced critical services and innovative technology to the area, including telemedicine access to remote specialists, a fully equipped emergency operating theater, maternity care, and 24-hour medical support. These advancements work together to ensure that every patient—regardless of financial means or location—receives the standard of care they deserve.
